Marine

Given the expanse of coastline that surrounds both Tasmania and Victoria the marine industry is strong in both states. Caterpillar engines are found in a wide variety of craft from recreational pleasure craft, fishing fleets, tugs and naval vessels through to the large passenger and cargo ships that utilise our ports and waterways.

In addition there are a number of shipbuilding companies within both Tasmania and Victoria that fit engines into this wide variety of craft. One such company in Tasmania is Incat who have won contracts to supply the US military and International Ferry companies with large high powered fast vehicle and passenger catamarans.

The engines used to power our marine craft range from small deisel engines through to the huge 3600 series engines which stand more than 2 metres tall.
