Forestry

The Forest and Forest Products Industry is an industry with a diverse range of activities ranging from growing, management, harvesting and cartage of resource, to the processing manufacture and merchandising of a wide range of timber, building components and products, wood panels, veneers and paper products.

The forestry industry is strong throughout both Tasmania and Victoria and due to skill shortages jobs are available within the industry. As the industry depends on heavy mobile equipment including harvesters, excavators, dozers, skidders and on highway trucks heavy vehicle mechanics are required to service and repair this equipment.

In addition there is also a need for skilled operators to drive and operate the equipment in order to plant trees mechanically, construct and maintain roads, felling and heading trees to be harvested, dozer operations, shifting tree lengths from the stump to log landings and removal of bark and the reduction of fire hazards.
